Eva Opal Dobbins, 74 of Glenville, (Cedarville Community) departed this life at 5:00 pm, Thursday,
August 9 at the residense of her daughter, Linda Fisher of Gassaway following an extended illness
She was born on November 5, 1926 in Braxton Co.,daughter of the late Lorie and Georganna Pulliam Blake.
Mrs Dobbins was a homemaker, a member of Cedarville Community Assoc. and a member of the Cedar Creek Bapist Churc
Mrs Dobbins was united in marriage to Sherman Dobbins on Febuary 15, 1947 who preceded her in death August 31,1964.
Surviving are one son, Curtis "Tim" Dobbins, Oberlin, Ohio; twodaughters,linda Fisher, Gassaway; Donna Ellyson, Fredericks, Virginia; three brothers, Eugene Blake, Elverson, Pa;
William Blake, Elverson, Pa Clarence Blake, Honeybrook ,Pa; two sisters, Matoka Miller, Morgantown, Pa; Ruth Dobbins, Cedarville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons,Michael Edwin Dobbins, february 1987;Randy Dobbins
September 1975, one daughter, Mona Sue Dobbins, June 1964; two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

2 Jacob Jasper Dobbins 83 years old, of Cedarville Wv, died atthe family home Monday, Dec. 17 about 2:30 pm., following a biref illness.
He was born in baxton county WV June 24, 1879, a son of Levi and Samantha Moore Dobbins, and
was married April 23, 1904 to Miss Rosetta Cottrill, who survives.
Also survives are a daughter, Mrs Odra Dean of Cedarville, WV ; four sons, Fred E. of Glenvil;le, WV ,
Wesley, Sherman and Marple, all of Cedarville, WV ; two sisters, Mrs Essa Hashman of Sutton,WV ,
Mrs Effa Deuley of Gassaway, WV ; three brothers , M. D. Dobbins of Sutton,WV , J. A. Dobbbins of
Jane Lew,WV and Carson Dobbins of Little Otter,WV.
There are 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dobbins was a member and a deacon of the Cedarville Baptist church.
Friend may call at the Spurgeon Mortuary in Glenville. Final rites arer to be held at 10:30a.m.Thursday
Dec. 20, 1962at the Cedarville Baptist church with the Rev. Rodney C. Minney officiating and
burial will be in the Cedarville cemetery.

3 Alma Nera Beckett Smith 84 of Ceadrville, died Wensday, February 24, 1982 following an extended illness . She was born in Gilmer County, April 30, 1897, a daughter of the late William & Julia Alltop Beckett. On April 1, 1917, she married James L. Smith, who preceded her in death August 21 1981. She is survived by three sons, Fred , Grafton, Ohio Louis, Glenville, Wv & james of woodbridge Va; five daughters, Syliva Dobbins & Nell Clowser of Cedarville, Wv, Rita Marks, Jamestown, New York, Floda Skubie, Cleveland, Ohio & Alice Dewey, Elyria, Ohio; 33 grandchildren 36 great-grandchildren & one great - great grandchild. She was precededin death by two brothers & four sisters Mrs. Smith was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church at Cedarville. Services were held Saturday, February 27 with the Elder Charles Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Beckett, Alma Nera (I54)

an extended illness. he was born Oct, 7, 1914, in Braxton Co, Wv. a son of the late Jacob J. Dobbins &
Rosetta Cottrill Dobbins. surviving are his wife, Sylvia Smith Dobbins: one daughter, Inas McHenry
Cedarville, Wv. three sons Adrian Dobbins, Fort Wayne, In. , Wesley Jr Dobbins, Gassaway, Wv.
& Gary Dobbins, Cedarville, Wv; Surviving one brother, Marple Dobbins, Cedarville: one sister , Odra Dean, Thornville, Ohio: 10 grandchildren , & 15 greatchildren. Mr Dobbins was a retired coal miner & timberman. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Cedarville Baptist Church since 1953. Services were at the Cedarville Baptist Church 11:00 A.M.

5 Elder Fredrick E. Dobbins,74, of Grafton, Ohio, formerly of Gilmer Co, died Tuesday Jan 13 1981 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was born in Gilmer Co to the late Jabob & Rosetta Cottrill Dobbins. He was a retired minister in the Baptist Church & a retired Carpenter. He was a member of the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church near Normantown, Wv.
Surviving are his wife ,Fannie Cunningham Dobbins.three sons, Charles Dobbins of Parkersburg, Franklin Dobbins of Madison, Ohio & Jack Dobbins of Columbus Georgia: two daughters, Mrs Blain Stump of Glenville & Mrs Vane Sherwood of Grafton : Ohio two brothers, Marple Dobbins & Wesley Dobbins of Cedarville, Wv. A sister Odra Dean of Cedarville: 22 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren.
Services were conducted Saturday, January 17 at the Upper Steer Run Curch with Elder Harlan C Alltop
officiation. Burial was in the church cemetery.

6 James L. Smith, 85, of Ceaderville, died Friday morning August 21, 1981 at his home following an extended illness. Smith was born in Bennett a son of the late Jeff & Alice Smith smith. he was a memember of Mount Carmel Baptist Church & was a timberman. Surviving are his wife, Alma Nera Beckett Smith; three sons, Fred of Grafton, Ohio, Louis of Glenville, Wv & James of Woodbridge, Va; five daughters, Syliva Dobbins & Nell Clowser of Cedarville Wv, Rita Marks of Jamestown, New York, Floda Skubie of Cleveland, Ohio & Alice Dewey of Elyria, Ohio; a sister, Lena Jenkins of Baldwin & a brother, Ralph Smith of Grafton, Ohio; 33 grandchildren 36 greatgrand-children & a great great grandchild. He was perecedin death by two brothers & two sisters. Services were held Monday, August 24 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Elder Charles Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.

They were married April 1, 1917 by Charles James on Steer Creek at her home.

7 John Dobbins was born in Scotland in 1747. It is not known when he came to America, but he enlisted in the Continental Army and served in the Revolution in the Fourth Pennsylvania Regiment under Captain James Taylor and General Anthony Wayne. After the war, John went to South western Pennsylvania, where he married Elizabeth Keener in 1784. Elizabeth, a daughter of Samuel Keener was born in Woodstock,VA. The family moved to Patterson Creek, Hampshire County VA "WV" where their only child was born in 1786. They later moved to O'Brien's Fork of Steer Creek in Braxton County VA "WV" where John died April 3, 1833. Dobbins, John (I14)
