Lessons Learned

I know you meant what you said last night
That you would always be there for me
I think I have always known it in my heart
And you have finally made me see

That love isn't just about you
Nor is it only just about me
It's about you and I working together
Or there can never be a we

We loved each other 18 years ago
Our love is just as strong today
We just got lost for a little while
And now we are finding our way

You say you could love no one else
The way that you love me
I could never love someone else
It wasn't meant to be

God gave us to each other
He knew that we'd have a love so rare
And that we'd always love each other
No matter what burdens we'd have to bare

As long as we work together
There is nothing that we can't do
You will always be there for me
And I'll always be there for you

We both know what we almost lost
Through trials,suffering and pain
We've learned many lessons the hard way
And we will never let it happen again
