Classic Lasagne
Meat Sauce:
3 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
6 cups Prepared meatless or mushroom spaghetti sauce.
¼ cup chopped parsley
Filling:
1 Large container (32 oz) ricotta cheese
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 ½ cups grated Parmesan
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
16 oz lasagne noodles, cooked, drained
8oz. Cottage Cheese
To prepare Meat Sauce, in 3-quart saucepan heat ground beef, onion and garlic;
saute 10 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Add spaghetti sauce and
parsley; bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer 15 minutes.
To prepare Filling, in medium bowl combine ricotta, ½ of cottage cheese, eggs, 1
cup Parmesan and 2 cups mozzarella.
Spread a layer of the meat sauce into 12 x 16 x 3 inch baking dish. Layer bottom
of pan with lasagne noodles, a layer of the ricotta mixture and a layer of the
meat sauce. Repeat until mixtures are gone.
Top with remaining lasagne noodles, meat sauce, 1 cup mozzarella and 1/2 cup
Parmesan. Cover. Bake in 375°F oven 55 minutes; uncover and bake 15 minutes
longer. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
